    2、s and icebergs in the sea. Sometimes there may be storms, icebergs or whirlpools in the sea. Look at the pictures below.     3、ppened. A B C The fishermen met a big storm. The two fishermen on the boat were trying to save themselves. A fisherman on the boat fell into the whirlpool, but the other man held a barrel to keep himself from falling into the whirlpool. The fisherman who held the barrel was saved by other fishermen.

    4、 He survived a storm. Edgar Allan Poe (1809 1849) Adapted from A Descent into the Maelstrom, which was written in 1841. Edgar Allan Poe was an American poet and short story writer. He is famous for his horror stories like The Black Cat and The Fall of the House of Usher. whirlpool The Maelstrom is a

    5、 powerful whirlpool in the sea or ocean. There are four famous whirlpools. A Moskoe-strom is a system of tidal (潮汐的) whirlpools in the Norwegian (挪威) Sea.
