Jerrie Mock, (Geraldine Lois Fredritz), American aviator (born Nov. 22, 1925, Newark, Ohiodied Sept. 30, 2014, Quincy, Fla.), was an unassuming housewife who in 1964 became the first woman to fly solo around the world,

Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She set many other records, wrote best-sell
