    7、hang Dabin. Im from Fuyang No.1 senior high school. Its my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is book1 unit 5 Languages Around The World, the last part, Video Time. I will begin this lesson from seven parts: Analysis of the teaching material and students,

    8、teaching objectives, important and difficult points, the teaching method, the teaching procedures and finally teaching reflections. First, let me talk about the teaching material.Part 1 Teaching Material:This unit is about languages around the world and the part I am going to teach is the last part

    9、of this unit: video time. It is mainly about Chinese characters. In the previous classes, students havelearnt something about world languages, why we learn a foreign language, how to learn a foreign language, Chinese writing system and grammar. The teaching aim of this part is to develop students in

    10、terest in Chinese culture. The video in this part is a little challenging for students to understand, so I have rearranged the order of the task and designed a quiz to do before they watch the video.Part 2 Analysis of the studentsNext come the analysis of the students. Having graduated from junior s

    11、chool and studied in senior high for only about 2 months, students dont have a large vocabulary. So they will have trouble in finishing the task. But they are active, cooperative and creative.Part 3 Teaching ObjectivesWhen it comes to the teaching objectives, according to the new standard curriculum

    12、 and syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the process that students are now in, I think the teaching aims are the followings:After the class, students willfeel eager to know more about Chinese characters.be able to get some ideas about how to teach a Chinese character.At the

    13、same time their thinking quality will get cultivated and their attitude and values will be shapedPart 4 Important points and difficult pointsAs to the important point and difficult points, I think the important point isHow to use most effective strategy to guide students to teach a hanziAnd the Diff

    14、icult points areHow to design tasks to help students understand the video better. How to get students to gain inspiration from the video.Part 5 Teaching methodsSo in order to achieve the teaching aims of this lesson, Ill mainly use Communicative Method, Audio-Visual Method and Task-based Method. At

    15、the same time, Ill make use of the modern teaching equipment and various kinds of teaching means.Part 6 Teaching proceduresNow I will introduce the teaching procedures I will divide this class into five steps:During step one I will ask students to pay attention to a chart and then get the informatio

    16、n from  the chart that the number of foreigners who are taking Chinese exams is increasing. Then I will play a short video to bring out the topic-Chinese characters seem to be a problem to those who are learning Chinese.During step two, I will introduce some new words to help them understand th

    17、e video better. During step three, we will enjoy the video two times and try to summarize what they have watched. During step four, students will be encouraged to try to teach a hanzi. And in the end homework will be assigned. Now I am to go into details to explain my teaching proceduresPart 6 Detai

    18、led teaching procedures Step Ilead inI will start my lesson with a chart with the information that the number of foreigners who are taking Chinese examinations has been increasing. Students are asked to find out the information first and then they will discuss about why more and more foreigners are

    19、studying Chinese. Afterthe discussion, I will ask them what might be a problem to those foreigners who are studying Chinese. To help them find out the answer, I will show a video about how foreigners write Chinese characters. From the video they can easily find out the answer that Chinese characters

    20、 might be a problem to foreigners. And then I will ask them how they can help since they can speak English and bear the responsibility to spread Chinese culture. Most of them will say they dont know how. At that moment I will tell them maybe they can get some inspiration in the following video. Duri

    21、ng this process, students pride in our country and interest in helping spread Chinese will be aroused. More importantly their curiosity about how to teach a hanzi will be aroused.But the following video is a little hard to understand, so I will introduce some new words to them and design a quiz to e

    22、quip them with some common sense about Chinese characters during Step 2 and Step three. After students finish the quiz they will enjoy the video for the first time. While watching the video, they will be suggested to write down whatever information they get from the video. When the video comes to an

    23、 end, students will be asked to check whether their answers to the quiz are right or not and talk about what information they get. Then students will be allowed to enjoy the video for the second time. After this time, students will be asked to summarize what the video is mainly about.During step fou

    24、r, students will be encouraged to use what they have learnt about Chinese characters from the video to make a teaching plan about how to teach a hanzi. They can discuss with each other, and then some of them will be encouraged to go to the front to give a lesson.After that I will make a summary: Chi

    25、nese characters contain ancient peoples wisdom and creativity. They are not only words but also a kind of art. More about Chinese characters wait for students to explore.To encourage students to know more about Chinese culture, homework about why, of the four ancient civilizations, only Chinese civi

    26、lization has survived will be assigned.Part Seven Teaching reflections:The teaching aim of this part is to develop students interest in Chinese characters. The creativity and wisdom in Chinese characters will attract students, but to teach a foreigner Chinese characters will arouse their sense of re

    27、sponsibility and then encourage them to know more about Chinese characters. So in the whole process, input about Chinese characters will be given in the form of video and then students are encouraged to think about how to teach Chinese characters. But the video is too complicated for senior one stud

    28、ents. Even though I designed a quiz to help, they will find it difficult to gain all the information of the video.The following is my blackboard design. Thats all.
