unsustainable mountain of waste due to a general lack of participation in recycling properly.Marion Bernardi,a student from France, has proposed a neat way of getting kids in on the act of sorting domestic waste.Marion Bernardi registered for an art class in high school when she realized her love for creating objects.Entering for design studies at LEcole de Design Nantes Atlantique was a logical next step for her.She took advantage of a chance to study abroad briefly, moving for a time to pursue a masters degree in Transcultural Design in Paulo.“For my end of studies project,”she says,“I decided to work on the waste sorting issue in Paulo, and finally I created the Recicla Dia a Dia project.”Recicla Dia a Dia,is an ambitious idea whereby kids are involved into recycling through a special classroom-based contest. With the help of smartphones, participants can take part through an app, along with a supply of custom-made tokens(代币)and a number of engaging activities to get them on the right path. The app keeps the topic exciting, using colourful cartoon characters in the form of drink cans, plastic bottles and banana peels with faces to give it a distinctive child-led look. The Recicla Dia a Dia app is specially-designed to educate the users,so they know how to deal with most forms of recyclable plastic, glass, paper and metal items. It comes through the use of a“separator”,an interactive guide on the app, which informs the child about whether waste is dry recyclable or not,via a set of clear questions. To progress in the contest and get rewards, the children must level up by gaining experience.Experience can be gained by bringing in bags of dry recyclables counted by the teacher and by completing weekly“Zero Waste”challenge.Beyond education through play,Marion Bernardi manages to create a link between home and school and provide a global solution to a major issue.24.What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us about Marion Bernardi?A.Her research project.B.Her future career plan.C.Her pursuit of masters degree.D.Her experience of learning design.25.What can be learned about Recicla Dia a Dia?A.It is based on real images.B.Its a computer gaming app.C.It requires children to buy tokens.D.It involves children in a competition.26.How can a child identify dry recyclable waste?A.By asking the teachers.B.By turning to an app.C.By discussing with others.D.By using a sorting machine.27.Which of the following can best describe the project?A.Simple and boring.B.Costly but effective.C.Interesting and challenging.D.Amazing but time-consuming.CDogs can understand when humans mean well, even if they dont get what they want from us.Prior to this work, the ability to distinguish between a human being unwilling or unable to perform a task had only been found in non-human primates. The close social bond between humans and dogs is well established, but researchers have a limited understanding of if and how dogs comprehend human intent. To see if dogs can distinguish between intentional and accidental actions by strangers,Christoph Vlter at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna in Austria and his colleagues ran tests with humans offering dogs food while the animals body movements were tracked using eight cameras. Each dog and human was separated by a transparent(透明的)plastic panel with holes that a slice of sausage could be passed through. In 96 trials of 48 dogs, human participants either teased the dog by holding up and pulling back a treat,or they pretended to clumsily drop the piece of sausage on their own side of the panel before the dog could eat it.In all trials, the dogs had to wait 30 seconds before finally getting their reward, during which the team tracked their reaction.A machine learning algorithm trained to detect and follow specific points on the dogs bodies lets the researchers analyse the dogs body language. They found that when humans pretended to drop a treat compared with when they intentionally pulled it away, the dogs responded more patiently:they made more eye contact with the experimenter, wagged their tails more and stayed closer to the transparent barrier, suggesting they were still expecting a treat.Dogs that were teased sat, laid down and backed away from the barrier more frequently. The results were similar across different dog breeds, ages and sex.In the clumsy trials, the dogs also wagged their tails more on their right side,a behaviour known to be associated with dogs that are happy and relaxed.“They have more positive emotions towards the clumsy experimenter, which might indicate that they indeed understand that the experimenter is willing, but just too clumsy,to give them food,”says Vlter.28.What was the main goal of the test conducted by Christoph Vlter and his colleagues?A.To determine the intelligence level of dogs.B.To evaluate the bond between humans and dogs.C.To compare the behavior of dogs and non-human primates.D.To see if dogs can tell between intentional and accidental actions by strangers.29.How did the researchers analyse the dogs body language during the trials?A.They used a machine to detect specific points on the dogs bodies.B.They asked their owners to do questionnaires.C.They compared previous studies with the new study.D.They manually counted the frequency of dogs specific behaviours.30.Why did the researchers use a transparent plastic panel in the experiment?A.To allow the dogs to see the experimenters actions.B.To maintain a controlled environment for a calming influence.C.To make it possible for the sausage to be passed through.D.To prevent the dogs from emotionally interacting with the experimenter.31.What behaviour indicates that a dog is happy and relaxed?A.The dog frequently sits down.B.The dog wags its tail more on its left side.C.The dog wags its tail more on its right side.D.The dog makes less eye contact with the experimenter.DIn the mid-1990s,Dr Marshall Duke,a psychologist at Emory University, was asked to help explore ceremonies in American families.“There was a lot of research at the time into the falling apart of the family,”he said.“But we were more interested in what families could do to oppose those forces.”And they found that the single most important thing you can do for your family may be the simplest of all:develop a strong family narrative.Around that time,Dr Dukes wife,Sara,a psychologist who works with children with learning disabilities, noticed something about her students.“The ones who know a lot about their families tend to do better when they face challenges,”she said. Her husband was interested, and along with a colleague,Robyn Fivush, set out to learn if Saras assumption was valid. They developed a measure called the“Do You Know?”scale(量表)that asked children to answer 20 questions.Examples included:Do you know where your grandparents grew up?Do you know where your mom and dad went to high school?Do you know an illness or something really terrible that happened in your family?Dr Duke and Dr Fivush asked those questions of four dozen families, and taped several of their dinner table conversations. They then compared childrens results to a series of psychological tests the children had taken, and reached a surprising conclusion. The more children knew about their familys history, the stronger their sense of control over their lives and the higher their self-respect.Why does knowing where your grandmother went to school help a child become tougher and happier?“The answers have to do with a childs sense of being part of a larger family,”Dr Duke said.So if you want a happier family, retell the story of your family, especially about the positive moments and how you braved the difficult ones. That act alone may increase the probability that your family will thrive(兴旺)for many generations to come. This is particularly important for children, whose identity tends to get locked in during adolescence.32.What attracted Dr Duke most during his research in the mid-1990s?A.Why families fell apart?B.How to keep families united?C.How to preserve family tradition?D.How family ceremonies developed?33.Why did Dr Duke and Dr Fivush develop the“Do You Know?”scale?A.To test Saras assumption.B.To research family illness.C.To study family challenges.D.To explore learning disabilities.34.What may be linked with kids mental health according to Dr Duke?A.The belief in their familys success.B.The knowledge about their familys history.C.The sense of control over their schoolwork.D.The frequency of dinner table conversations.35.What does the underlined word“This”in the last paragraph refer to?A.Braving difficulties.B.Creating thriving stories.C.Telling family stories.D.Living in a happy family.第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 order to call more attention to a given product which is offered for sale.36.There are several ways to creatively use shelf talkers.Perhaps the most common approach is to design a small sign that is colorful and announces a sale price on a given item. The sign itself normally hangs over the edge of the shelf, making it more easily visible to any shoppers passing by.This approach can be used to sell products that have not been sold as expected.37.Another type of shelf talker is a discount coupon(优惠券).38.Thus its easy for customers to see if the value of the coupon will reduce the price enough to make the product attractive to them.As a marketing and sales tool, the use of shelf talkers is a time-honored tradition.39.But it can often lead to an increase in sales that more than justifies any investment of time or resources in the creation of the discount sales campaign.Best of all, many retailers can simply remove the signs when the special is over and store them for use at a later date. Many different types of retail businesses make use of shelf talkers.40.Clothiers,shoe stores, and even retailers such as candle shops, appliance stores, and general merchandise businesses find this simple resource very effective in attracting the attention of customers and boosting overall sales figures.A.It is often combined with other retail approachesB.Its because of their effectiveness and convenienceC.And then the retailer can make room for other profitable goodsD.To achieve this goal, the sign usually sports bright colors and imagesE.Supermarkets and drugstores use this type of sales tool on an ongoing basisF.The coupon normally announces a specific amount taken away from the retail priceG.The device costs relatively little to produce, and requires very little time to set into
