    2、ty of snacks(小吃小吃).These snacks are usually finger food which means people eat them with their fingers,not with knives and forks.The purpose of a cocktail party is for the guests to circulate and meet and chat with different people.For this reason,people at a cocktail party usually dont sit down;ins

    3、tead,they stay standing and move around the room.Step 2.Brainstorm with students for questions that people often ask when they are meeting each other for the first time.Put the questions on the blackboard.Some questions are provided only as suggestions on Page 236.Step 3.Have all the students move a

    4、round the room talking to each other.Keep two(or three)students talking for a few minutes,stop them and then ask the students to move around in order to find a new partner to talk with.Talk to as many people as possible.Step 4.Single out a student,have him/her point to another student and say to the

    5、 rest of the class,“Who can tell me something about X?”Those who have spoken to that person will tell the class what they remember.This step can continue until more students have chances to practice.Activity 2-1-2AgeDirections:Step 1.Divide the class into pairs or groups of 3 to 4,and have each grou

    7、 our age because life is always offering us,no matter how old we are,opportunities to fulfill our hopes and dreams.Step 3.Work together with your partner(s)to discuss the seven questions on Page 54.When the group discussion is finished,the teacher can have some students report to the class their ans

    8、wers to the questions.Activity 2-1-3 Rescue Worker,Save My.Directions:Step 1.Divide the class into pairs or groups of 3 to 4,and have each group sit in a circle.Step 2.Read the following background information on Page 55:On your way back home,an earthquake occurs.As you get to your home,you find it

    9、has collapsed.Luckily,all members of your family are safe,but almost everything else is buried in the ruins.A rescue worker walks up to you and says,“I can save just three things that are in your home for you.Tell me which things you want to save.”Step 3.In your group,take turns telling what are the

    13、discuss the twelve questions on Page 56.You can imagine what you would like to be and explain why.Note:discuss one question at a time.Judging from the choice a particular student has made,other students can make some comments right afterwards on what kind of person he/she is.After each student has a

    22、nking or acting or doing something in a different way.Step 3.Work individually for approximately 1 minute.Think of some of the people who have greatly influenced your life in a positive way from your earliest years to the present:1)Who was this person when you met him/her?2)How old were you when you

    23、 met this person?3)How did this person influence you?4)How would your life be different if you had not met this person?5)Do you still see this person?Step 4.Share with your partner(s)the story of some of the most influential people in your life.Step 5.When the group discussion is finished,the teache

    26、en asked what are the happy events in our lives,we may feel that nothing good happens to us.Actually,during our lives we experience a number of events which give us great happiness or pride,but sometimes we just dont have enough time to recall how lucky we have been.Step 3.Work individually for appr
