10、and an age,a historical record of the time in which it was produced.In order to understand a work of art fully,both of these natures have to be comprehended.We must try to understand how the artist used his lines,textures,colors,or his rhythms,tones and harmonies.When we can analyze the work for its

11、 constructional contents,we must try to grasp its meaning from the artist and from the period and society in which he lived.If artists deal in ideas,what ideas are commonly found in their works?Three idea-areas seem the most important,forming a kind of triangle which includes many artistic expressio

12、ns.The three points of the triangle are GOD,MAN,and NATURE.Ever since the arts came into being,the artists have always been thinking about these three basic points.For instance,the ancient cave paintings of bison show that prehistoric man thought a great deal about his relationships with the world o
