    2、al travel agents or airline reps to help you find the best flight booking.Give the agent the information on your tentative travel plans.Also let them know information including your seat preferences,and if you are flexible in your travel dates and airlines.Like with online booking,consider being fle

    3、xible in your plans for the best prices and times.A good agent will alert you to all of the variables in booking your flight like alternative airports and smaller airlines.Theyll allow you to decide what offer is best for yourself.Chapter Three Background Information v Finding a good hotel and makin

    4、g a reservation can be stressful,especially if you are trying to book a hotel room at the last minute.With many hotel reservations done online,there are online tools you can use to compare rates and shop around before booking the right room for you.Chapter Three Background Information v Sometimes,lo

    5、cation can trump budget or required accommodations,especially if you are looking for a location that is convenient.Are you looking for a hotel that is close to a work event or conference?Are you looking for a hotel that is close to a specific tourist attraction?You may decide to stay in a location t

    6、hat is central or downtown,which will allow you to access different parts of the city easily.Or,you may decide to choose a more secluded location,so you have some privacy and can drive or walk to and from the main areas of town.If you are traveling for business,you may decide to search for hotels th

    7、at are close to a conference or meeting.v.Chapter Three Background Information v Many online bookings will require payment via a credit card.If you are traveling on a business trip,you may use the company credit card to pay for the hotel.Always check if your credit card or AAA provider offers any di

    8、scounts on hotels so that you can use them when you pay for the room.If you are staying at the hotel for an extended period of time,you may be able to pay for the first 2 to 3 nights upfront and then cover the rest of your stay once you get to the hotel.You will then be required to leave your credit

    9、 card number on file and settle your bill at the front desk on your check out day.Chapter Three Background Information v Many international travelers exchange currency before they depart,so they have at least a little money for a cab at the airport or other immediate expenses.Once you reach your des

    10、tination,you are likely to find currency exchange kiosks at airports,ferry terminals,hotels and other areas where tourists congregate.However,these tend to charge more than banks total fees sometimes run upwards of 7 percent.There are other ways to save,however,if youre willing to plan ahead a littl

    11、e.Chapter Three Background Information v Just like you can exchange currency at home with a local bank,you can also use any bank once you arrive in your destination.This can be tricky but much like it is at home,youre more likely to get a legitimate rate and minimal fees.You might think the language

    12、 barrier will be your biggest issue but as long as youre in a fairly large city and you go tov a major bank in a central location,youre very likely to find at least one teller who speaks English.Chapter Three Background Information v The main problem is that some banks wont exchange currency if your

    13、e not a customer.Your best bet is to ask around and hope for the best.If they wont exchange your currency,theyll probably at least be able to help you find a bank that will.They are much more likely to exchange your currency if youre withdrawing money using your card,since this is more secure for th

    14、em.You can also ask your hotel concierge to help you find a bank that will exchange your currency.Chapter Three Background Information v A travel itinerary outlines all elements of a trip,from hotel stops to destinations.A good itinerary gives a trip structure,and maximizes the amount youll be able

    15、to see and do.Though it seems a daunting task,an itinerary is simple to develop.With your basic travel information,you can plan an entire trip out in an efficient and organized manner.Flight numbers,hotels,car rentals,and restaurant reservations are all key pieces of information to manage and mainta
