Results show that the desireto prove others wrong only turned into better performance in the face of lesstrustworthy observers, while it bac

    31、kfired when it came from more trustworthyobservers. Trying to prove highly trustworthy people wrong appears to have causeda sense of anxiety, which weakened the following performance. In contrast, peopleexperiencing underdog expectations from less trustworthy observers were able touse the desire to
