She has certificate in Chinese Calligraphy and taught after-school classical calligraphy classes.The abbreviation “CV” stands for “curriculum vitae”, which is Latin for “lifes course”. It is a d
5、escription of a persons education, experience, and skills. In some countries, such as the UK, “CV” is identical in meaning to “resume”. In other countries, such as the USA, Canada, Australia, and Germany, a CV is a rather detailed description of a persons work and education, which can run to many pa
6、ges in length; on the other hand, a resume is a brief one or two pages summary, often arranged in bullet points. The example in Student Book on page 57 is of this shorter style. The shorter-style CV should serve two purposes: For the applicant: It is a sales brochure intending to get the attention o
7、f the employer and highlighting the applicants qualifications. For the employer: It is a screening device. Employers may get hundreds or even thousands of CVs for each job that is posted. It is impossible to review each of these CVs in detail, so employers often briefly scan each CV to see if that a
8、pplicants qualifications match the job requirements. If there is no match, or if there are any red flags (such as spelling mistakes on the CV), the CV will be ignored. If there is a match and no obvious red flags, the CV is set aside for further review. A CV that is poorly formatted, offers too much
9、 unnecessary information, or takes too much time to read will probably be ignored, even if the applicant is qualified.The longer-style CV is usually used for academic positions or technical jobs where the basic requirements are quite detailed and stringent, and where for this reason the employer onl
