What do you like most about it?While -Listening-Task 5Answer the following questions. What can you do in the City of Science and Industry?I would like to go to this museum to see the blue screen. I am curious to know what on earth is going on there and why I can see my blood cells moving around like tiny bright lights. I am sure it will be a lot of fun. While -Listening-Task 5Answer the following questions. What do you like most about it?The reason why I would like to go to this museum is that it is an amazing place fbr us to have fun, learn, and get inspired. Just as the pictures show, there is a lot of interesting stuff to do there. What I like most is that I can participate in the interactive activities and explore the scientific phenomena for myself. While -Listening-Task 5Listen to the tape and discuss the following questions in groups. You can discuss like these:Have you ever been to such a museum in China?Where is it?What is it like? What did you do there? What other interesting museums did you visit?2. Are there any museumes like this in China? What other interesting museums are there? While -Listening-Task 5Yes. There is the China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing. Its very grand and mysterious. I went to explore the theories of science.I also have visited the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.2. Are there any museumes like this in China? You can make it easily using equal parts of water and cornflour, like I have here. A non-Newtonian fluid is strange because you can pour it like a liquid but if you put any pressure on it, it suddenly becomes hard as concrete. In fact, it becomes hard enough to stand on. Then, as soon as you take the pressure off, it becomes a liquid again. This shows that it is possible that something can exist as a liquid and a solid at the same time.Discussion-Task 7Discussion and presentation. What information does the example give out about the scientific phenomenon ?A scientific phenomenon/experimentName Materials needed Theory behind it Process Significance a non-Newtonian fluidwater , cornflourIsaac Newtons mathematical principles of viscosityYou can pour it like a liquid but if you put any pressure on it, it suddenly becomes hard as concrete.something can exist as a liquid and a solid at the same timeDiscussion-Task 7Discussion and presentationUseful structures:.can/cannot exist in the form of a solid/gas and aliquid/plasma .is both a .and a . at the same time. how light/sound is reflected. .the existence of other. We can demonstrate how these interact through a simple experiment using milk, dish soap, and food colouring. First, cover the bottom of a shallow plate with milk. Now add two or three drops of different liquid food colouring to the centre of the milk. They should form one large dark puddle in the middle of the milk. Now, dip a cotton swab into dish soap, and place it into the middle of the food colouring. Discussion You will see the colours quickly move to escape from the soap, making interesting and beautiful patterns. This happens because the dish soap molecules have a strong negative charge, and the milk molecules have a strong positive charge. Like magnets, these molecules are attracted to each other, and so they appear to move around on the plate, taking the food colouring with them, making it look like the colours are quickly moving to escape from the soap.Presentation The scientific experiment is called interact between the positive and negative charges.Milk, dish soap, and food colouring are what the experiment needs. If you add two or three drops of different liquid food colouring to the milk, they should form one large dark puddle. But after you do so ,you will see the colours quickly move to escape from the soap. That is because the dish soap molecules have a strong negative charge, and the milk molecules have a strong positive charge. They attract each other, and so they move around on the plate, taking the food colouring with them, just like the colours are escaping from the soap.Put the following sentences into EnglishMilk, dish soap, and food colouring are_ (实验所需要的).what the experiment needs. That is _ _ (因为肥皂分子带有很强的负电荷).What is strange is _(如果你对它施加任何压力,它会突然变得像混凝土一样硬.because the dish soap molecules have a strong negative charge. that if you put any pressure on it, it suddenly becomes hard as concrete.
