The quotation of this unit is The best portion of a good mans life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love. Written

    3、 by William Wordsworth, this quotation is meant to help students to understand virtues can be found in small things in daily life and encourage students do good things for others no matter how small they are. Besides, this part also presents several instructions to help students look ahead and leads

    4、 in the topic of this unit through discussion.教学目标(核心素养) At the end of this section, students will be able to: 1. retell the general information of the listening material according to an information table; 2. listen for attitudes by focusing on the speakers words as well as how the speaker is talkin

    9、scuss the second question on page13. Collect answers from the class. Step 2 Talking about moral dilemmasAsk students to look at the pictures in. Activity 1and work in groups to describe what they can see in them according to the following questions:1)What is happening in the picture?2)What will happ

    10、en if he helps the old woman?3)What may happen if he doesnt help the old woman? .Lead students to read the definition of moral dilemmas .Ask students to think about the two questions in Activity I and exchange ideas with their partners. .Collect answers from the class. Step 3 Listening and completin

    11、g the table .Ask students to read through the information table and predict what they will hear by discussing the following questions:1)What is the girl doing?2)What has happened to the student next to the girl?3)What are the two possible choices that the girl could make? Play the recording and ask

    12、students to finish Activity 2 on page 14. Then check the answers. .Present the new words in the listening material and explain them to the students through paraphrasing. Invite three students to retell the general information of the listening material according to the information table. Step 4 Liste

    13、ning and deciding true or false .Ask students to read the five statements in Activity 3 and discuss the following questions in groups: 1)What would you say if you are eager to share a piece of news with your friend? 2)If you are doubtful about your friends words, what expressions would you use? 3)Ho

    14、w would you express your admiration for someone? 4)What would you say if you dont believe something is true? 5)What would you say when you are curious about the development of a story?Lead students to read the listening tip on page 14 and learn to listen for attitudes.Play the recording again and as

    15、k them to finish Activity 3 on page 14. Step 5 Listening and answering the questions.Lead students to read the three questions in Activity 4 and underline the key words.Ask students to finish Activity on page 15 after listening to the conversation again.Ask students to check their answers with their

    16、 partners and then invite three students to share their answers with the class. Step 6 Discussing and sharing thoughts in groups.Ask students to think about what they would do if they were ever faced with the same situation as the girl. Group the students to finish Activity on page 15. Invite three

    17、to five groups to report their thoughts to the class.Step7 Pronunciation.Ask students to read the conversations in Activity on page 15.
