    13、instead of relying entirely on news report.Step Four DiscussionIn pairs, discuss the following questions.1 Three texts are presented to encourage the reader to read news critically. Why is the information organized this way? If you were to write on the same topic, what information would you choose t

    14、o present and how would you organize the information?The information is organized in a logical way so that readers understand the author intention easily. First readers are presented with the two news reports, so they can compare the differences between the two perspectives. Then the third text prov

    15、ides information and explanations regarding these differences, so that readers have a clear idea why they should be critical when reading news reports and how to be critical news readers. 2 A community needs news, for the same reason that a man needs eyes. It has to see where it is going. How do you

    16、 understand it? In my opinion, a man needs eyes to collect sufficient information from around himself for his judgement and movement. In the same way, a community also needs news as the best source to provide proper information for judgement about its development. So, it is clear that news is critic

    17、al for a community.3 What else can we do to be critical news readers? We can do more research on the news source. For example, we can find out more about the news agency, and the stand it takes. We could read or watch other materials from the source so we can get a further impression of the perspect

    18、ive their news usually takes and how trustworthy it seems.Be a critical reader no only on news reports, but also on other things like advertisements, blogs, and any other personal or informal publications.1.
