    3、uding “shadow”, “swim towards”,“swim away” ,“protecting”.Students background: Grade 5 students,finished learning Join in Unit 5 On the beach,can describe the beach and beach activities;Learned Join in Unit 3 TV programmes,knew film genre;Learned simple present and present .Text book analysis:The sto

    4、ry is from Tiger Time Unit 5 At the beach- Shark attack.As an extended story,it has the same language with our text book,covered the beach activities like “snorkelling/building a sand castle/playing volleyball”etc.It uses the same grammar point “be doing”and simple present to describe the whole stor

And the story has new words like “shark”, “dolphins”,“shadow”, “swim towards”,“swim away” ,“protecting”, “appear”, “save”.The story uses “suddenly” “.when” to connect the sentences.The story contains a science common sense:dolphins protect people when they are in danger.Teaching methods:1.Pre-tea

    6、ching:Pre-teach the different story types and elicit students to express different feelings by creating different situations for them 1 day before the class.2.Cooperative learning: Students need to work in groups to discuss,write and practice acting out the story.Value education:1. Its important to

    12、s to read together with teacher,if they see a smiling face,then they read,or teacher reads.Encourage the students to read lively.Strengthen the learning of block words if they are struggling;2)After reading,ask them what kind of story is it,and how do they feel about the story,elicit students to hav

    13、e different feelings a story can bring them.Step 5 3rd reading outline and retell 5minFind the key words together to finish the outline on the board,leading by the question words “Who” “What” “How”,then ask students to retell the story with the outline.Step 6 Brainstorm a new ending,to make a differ

    14、ent story 5minAsk students what will happen if there are no dolphins there,at the same time,take away the words “dolphins”from the outline.Elicit students to say different possibilities,like “the shark will eat them”,but teacher needs to encourage them to be more creative,to make it surprising/funny

Teacher may use some questions to lead them,like “if the shark ate them,what may happen in the sharks tummy?” “If no dolphins,maybe some other people may help,like some super heroes,or some one with magic power,and how will those characters help them.” “If no one help them,how could they esc

    16、ape?” “If you are in danger,can you try to be smart?”.Or “maybe the shark is their friends or its a joke,a dream.” If students say “to kill the shark”,remember to have value education with them.Step 7 Write a new ending in groups,practice,then act out. 8min1. Give students handouts with the first part of the story,and a word bank, ask them to rewrite different kinds of endings in groups,practice then act it out.3. Give out the criteria: “Think creatively;Write correctly;Read loudly and Act out lively”.4. Ask differ

    18、ent groups to present,and check if they met the criteria.Conclusion 2minTeacher conclude the language points,and the important of keeping safe,to protect animals etc.and suggest the students to read and write more in their life.Howe workWrite down the story by your self and share it with your parents.
