2、 wheretheres a familiar atmosphere of boredom and tension. People sit uncomfortably onplastic chairs, looking through old magazines, all of which have been read hundreds oftimes previously. We are specially trained clowns who workas part of a programme known as “hospital clowning”. I chose this career because of myexperience of going to hospital
6、when I was a kid. Although the doctors and nurses dida great job, hospitals werent really designed for children. I spent much of the timewhen I was there feeling frightened and more than little bored! Being a clown doctormeans I can help people by entertaining them.科学研究表明,欢笑能产生使人心情变好的化学物质,这就意味着小丑医生能

Thereis comedy in the texts of Ancient Greece, and medieval writings are filled with jok

Twains particularstyle of writing is funny and often mischievous. For example, in his classic novel TheAdventures of Tom Sawyer,
16、he famously says, “Writing is easy. All you have to do iscross out the wrong words.” But he is equally well known for his witty remarks in hiseveryday interactions with people. For instance, while on a lecturing tour of the UnitedStates, Twain went into a barbers shop to get a haircut and a shave. T
17、he barber, notrecognising him, asked if he had a ticket to the lecture. When Twain replied that hedidnt, the barber told him that if he wanted to go to the event he would have to stand,as there were no seats left in the theatre. Twains response was, “Thats just my luck. Ialways have to stand when th

19、her side of the world, Lin Yutang was soon to becomefamous for his unique brand of humour. A well-known bilingual writer, Lin brought theconcept of humour to modern Chinese literature. Again, the man whispered in the tigers ear.The tiger looked shocked and hurried away. “What did you say to my animals?” said theemperor, astonished. “I told them they had to make a speech after eating me fordinner.” Lins audience roared with laughter. 25、ing and working withothers can sometimes be complicated, and humour makes this easier. Sharing jokesand laughing together can bring individuals and even communities together. Indeed,some may argue that our need for humour is almost as great as our need for water andair. In the words of Mark Twain, “
