The water can unsafe to drink. Fires can start. People can panic or get severely injured. 二、While- reading 教师活动：Please find the topic sentence of each paragraph. Then summarize each paragraph in one phrase based on its topic sentence. For example, the topic sentence of the first paragraph is “Strange things were happening in the countryside of northeastern Hebei.” Strange things were happening, which could have warned people that an earthquake was on the way.
