Teaching aids: CAI, flash cards, a ball. 6. Teaching procedures: Step 1.warm-up: a. Greetings. b. Sing the song yes, I can. Step2.pre-reading: a. Using PPT to telling students other different meaning of can. T: Oh, these animals can do lots of things , but the word can has many other meanings. look at the pictures. b. Today well read a story about a can.Look at the pictures and read silently ,get the fundamental of this story. (1)How many animals are there in this story? (2)Who are they? C. Students answer the questions and check the answers. Step3. While-reading: a. Picture1 (1)There are so many animals in this story, it must be very funny. listen, someone is crying ! whats wrong? (2)Listen to the tape and remember the two questions: Q1.where does the can want to go? Q2:where is the cans home? (3)we know the can wants to go home ,but where is the can now? look at PPTand answer. (4)Guess :does the bird help the can? (5)Teacher and students read the sentences in different roles. b. Picture2 The bird doesnt help the can , but dont worry, here comes a bear,he is tall and strong, maybe he can help. (1)Watch the video , and answer the questions. (2)Using football and shuttlecock to translate kick. (3)Dubbing for the two animals. C.Pictuer3 The bear doesnt help the can, it doesnt matter.Rabbit and Monkey are coming, maybe they can help. (1)Look at the a PPT and answer : where is the can now? (2)Guess: do they help the can? (3)Listen to the sentences and check answers. (4)Use PPT to teach flies. (5)Students try to read this part in different roles. c. Picture4 (1)The can flies over rabbit and monkey, but where is the can now? (2)Use PPT to teach fall. (3)Guess: Fish has no arms and feet, do they help the can ? (4)Boys read Mr Fish, girls read Ms Fish. d. Picture5 (1)Mr Fish and Ms Fish give the can to Zoom, look at the picture and answer the two questions:Q1.does Zoom help the can? Q2:how does Zoom help the can? (2)Where is the cans home? Introduce the cans home and put the can into the recyclable part. (3)Studens read this part in different roles. e. Enjoy the whole story Step 3. Post-reading a. Fill in the blanks to wrap up the whole story. b. Group the animals into two part: dont help part and help part. c. Role play. Step 4.Extention Enjoy another story about helping others: The ant and the dove. Step5.Homework: a. Retell this story to your friends or families. b. You can continue to write this story, try to draw and write simple sentences to make a new story.
