Warm up 1. Sing a song: Good morning. 2. Review the sentences to greet people: Hi. Hello. Good morning. Good afternoon. 3. Greetings. The teacher greets some students, using the above sentences. T: Hi, S1: Hi, Miss Wang. T: Good morning, S2: Good morning, Miss Wang. Step 2 Presentation 1. Learn “Hi. Im” (1) T: Hi. Im Miss Wang. S1: Hi. Im (2) Ask students to talk in groups of four. 2. Learn “Are you?” and “Yes, I am. /No, Im not.” (1) T: OK. Now I know some of you. Are you? Ask students to read “are” and “you” after the recording. (2) T: Are you? S1: Yes. T: You can ask me. S2: Are you Miss Wang? T: Yes, I am. Ask students to read “Yes, I am” after the recording. T: Are you? S1: Yes, I am. T: You can ask your classmates. S1: Are you? S2: Yes, I am. Ask a student to go around the classroom and talk with his classmates. (3) T: Are you? Guide the students to say “no” Teach “No, Im not”. Ask students to read “No, Im not” after the recording. 3. Play a game: Are you? T: I have many cards here. Next, I will choose one card, and you can guess who I am by asking me “Are you.?” (Show students some cartoon characters on PPT) T: You can use some small cards and play the game in groups of four students. You can do some actions and let your classmates guess. 4. Say a rhyme. T: Youve done a very good job. So lets chant together. Hi. Hi. Are you Mike? Yes. Yes. Yes, I am. Hi. Hi. Are you Bobby? No. No. No, Im not. 5. Story time. (1) Lets watch and answer. T: We have a new friend today. Look, who is he? You can ask him. (Show a boys picture with the face covered) Ss: Are you Mike? Show the boys face and let the students answer, “No, Im not.” T: Who is he? Lets watch the cartoon and find the answer. T: Who is he? Ss: Liu Tao. Show the sentence “Im Liu Tao” on PPT and write down the title “Im Liu Tao” on the blackboard. (2) Lets read and match. T: Now you know Liu Tao. Do you know the other students? Ask students to read by themselves and match the pictures with the names. (3) Lets try to read. Ask students to read 2 pictures with the names “Su Hai” and “Liu Tao” covered. (4) Lets repeat. T: You can read very well if you can repeat. Please listen and read after the recording. (5) Lets read in groups. T: Next, Lets read in groups of four students. You can choose any way you like. You can read in different roles. You can read together. You can also read after one student. Groups presentation of the reading. (6) Lets act. T: All of you can read very well. But can you act? You have two more minutes to prepare. Step 3 Production T: We have a new classmate. Hes Tom. He wants to know all of you. If you are Tom, can you talk with us? Here are some useful sentences. You can ask “Are you?”. Next, please talk in groups of four. And in your group, one student is Tom. The other three students are Toms classmates. Students talk in groups and try to act out the dialogue. Step 4 Summary T: Today we have learnt a lot. If you dont know a person, what can you ask? If a person asks you whether you are somebody, how can you answer? Please discuss in your groups first. Teacher and students summarize together. Step 5 Homework 1. Read the dialogue five times and try to recite. 2. Practice Toms dialogue with parents.
