Greetings:Good afternoon. Nice to see you here. Last night I watched a TV show. I laughed and laughed. Its very interesting. A Japanese went to Thailand. One day he was hungry. Now Ill draw a picture for you. Whats this in English? Can you spell it? Another picture! Can you read them? 3. Show next PPT. Ask the Ss to pay attention to the letters “a” and “u”. Then read more words. 4. Play games. 1) I point, you say. As quickly as you can. 2) I do, you say. Ask the Ss to read one by one. 3) I say, you do. T: Today we had lots of fun with “cup” and “cap”. And heres a funny story about them. Do you want to see? Step3 While-reading 1. Play the video and ask Ss to watch carefully. 2. Show two questions on PPT and ask Ss to choose answers: 1) They planned to play a _ game. 2) They should wear _ for the game. T: Do you know baseball? Can you tell something about baseball? (Ss: .) T: Baseball game is very popular in the US. People in the US love baseball games so much. It is their national sport. Do you know our national sport? Yes, its ping- pong. Many children in the US go to play baseball in their free time. Look! To play a baseball game, they need baseballs, baseball bats, baseball gloves and baseball caps. So the next question, they should wear caps for the game. 3. Show a picture on PPT. Ask Ss to look carefully and say something about it. T: But look here! Whats on their heads? (Ss: Cups.) They have cups on their heads. Thats really strange! And what are they doing? (Ss: They are laughing.) Is Sam laughing too? He is very surprised. What will he say? Ss: Why do you have cups on your heads? (Show the title.) Why are you laughing? (Write this sentence on the Bb.) T: Lets ask together. Do you know why? Can you answer? Now please read silently by yourself, think about the two questions, and underline the answers. 4. Ask Ss to open the books and read the text silently. Then ask one or two to check the answers. T: So its Lingling who made a mistake. Right? When she heard “caps”, she thought of “cups”. But are her friends angry? (Ss: No.) Maybe they think Linglings mistake is OK. Its funny to wear cups on the head. So dont be shy. If you make mistakes in English, I wont be angry. 5. Retell the story. 1)T: Now do you understand this story? This story is so long. Can you retell the story in short words? Maybe thats a little hard. (Show PPT.) Look! This can help you. Please choose and read it aloud. Ask one student to check the answers. Then read together. 2) Retell the story with more missing words. Show the next PPT. Ask Ss to retell the story with more missing words. First work in pairs. Then ask Ss to show. T: Great jobs! Im proud of you! You can retell the story so well. Now lets read the story again. This time Id like you to read the story more beautifully. Do you want to read English beautifully? I think the record is the best teacher. Now lets listen to the record. Please pay attention to pause, intonation and stress. 6. Play the record of Paragraph 1. 1) Play the record twice. Step4 Groupwork - Read Paragraph3 in roles in groups. 1) Play the record twice. Ask Ss to listen and mark. Then follow. 2) Ask Ss to prepare in groups. 3) Ask some groups to show. Step5 Summary and Homework 1. Summary and moral education T: Today we learnt a funny story. Lingling made a mistake with “cup” and “cap”. But thats OK. Because its easy to make mistakes with English. So boys and girls, keep trying! Keep speaking! Dont be shy! I believe you can do better and better!
