Goodbye! Teaching objectives A. Knowledge objectives 1. To enable the students to master the new words: phone, cook, wash, computer. 2. To enable the students to describe things they did before with the simple past tense: I.yesterday. B. Ability objectives: 1. To master new words and phrases well when doing exercises. 2. To describe the verbs with the simple past tense correctly. C. Morality objectives: 1. To arouse the interest of learning English. 2. To know the necessary of sharing housework at home, and learn to care about others. Teaching focus: To master the new words: phone, cook, wash, computer; To master the new sentences: I helped Mum and I washed clothes yesterday. To know the verbs with “-ed”, the simple past tense. Teaching difficulty points: To use the new verbs with the past tense skillfully in practice. Teaching methods: Games, songs, and group work. Teaching aids: 1. Multimedia player 2. Pictures and cards. Teaching procedure: 1. Warm-up A. Greeting: sing a song to start the class: Row Your Boat. B. Grouping: to divide students into two groups to get a competition. The rules should be told clearly: the person who get the right answer, he/she can get one drop of water for his/her team, answer correctly for three times, his/her team can get one chance of choosing numbers with scores or games in them. The team with the higher score is the winner. 2. Presentation Game: Hide-and-Seek, to find verbs home. Put word cards on the blackboard (verbs learnt before:is, am, are, have, do, was, were, had, did) and then ask two students to put them into the correct groups(to make two flowers on the blackboard.) 3. New teaching A. New words learning. Show pictures about new words: had, cook, wash, phone, computer. Using the sentence: sb did sth yesterday. Play games to practice new words. Show the phrases with the new words on the PPT: cook noodles, wash clothes, phone her grandma, play on the computer. Then show Students the past tense of verbs. Ask students to find out the rule of verbs. B. Text learning. Watch the video and try to get the answer-Did Sam help mum? Ask students (two groups) to read the text by themselves, then act in front of the class-Amy phoned grandma. Pay attention to the tone and pronunciation. 4. Practice. Look at the PPT. Practice 1: look at the picture and make sentences with the simple past tense, then ask and answer in pairs. Practice 2: fill in the blanks(verbs with the simple past tense). 5. Summary. Ask students what they have learnt in this class. Find some of them to get the answers. They may say they learnt the new words, new phrases, and the verbs with ed. 6. Homework Copy the new words . Help your mum with the housework and write a short diary with the simple past tense.
