    1、 Grasp the theme of the poem “The Road Not Taken”; Reveal the message the poet tries to get across; Analyse Robert Frosts writing style used in this poem; Suppose you travel alone to such a wood and now have to choose one of the roads while you have no idea where either of them will lead you to. Whi

    2、ch road will you take and why? I will choose one road to take. Since life offers no guarantee and I will never know if my decisions are wrong until I have made them. I might as well take the risk and decide. It is definitely better than keeping myself at a loss. Although it is true that one wrong tu

    3、rn could get myself lost, it could also be that such a turn could be an opportunity for an adventure, or could even open more roads. It is all a matter of perspective. We have the choice between being a lost traveller or an accidental tourist of life. Listen to the poem and try to find the answers t

    4、o the following questions. He may be travelling in the countryside. 1. Where may be the writer travelling? 2. What does he have to do? He has to make his own decision and see what will happen. (1) What did the poet do when he faced the two roads and what might be his feeling? He looked at them one a

    5、fter another as far as he could and felt undecided which to take. Please read the poem carefully and answer the following questions. (2) Which roads did the poet take finally and what did he think of his choice? Which lines show his attitude to his choice? He took the less travelled road even though

    6、 he was uncertain whether he had made the right choice. The lines that show his attitude are: “I doubted if I should ever come back.” and “I shall be telling this with a sigh”. I see a peaceful wood in the countryside, where few people go. I see this image from the following words and sentences: “Tw

    7、o roads diverged in a yellow wood”, “it bent in the undergrowth”, “it was grassy and wanted wear”, “In leaves no step had trodden black”, etc. (3) What image appears in your mind when you read the poem? What are the words and expressions that help you see the image? (4) What do you think the two roa

    8、ds in the poem symbolize? The road itself symbolizes the journey of life. The image of the road forking off into two paths symbolizes the choices and opportunities we are presented with, which ultimately lead us into the unknown future that lies ahead of us. In the first stanza, there is a sentence

    9、“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood”. And in the last stanza, there is an expression “Two roads diverged in a wood”. These two sentences are almost the same. Read the poem again, and answer: Are there any repeated words, rhymes or other special effects? This poem is written in rhyme. In each stanza

    10、, the last word of lines 1, 3, and 4 rhyme with each other. And the last word of line 2 rhymes with the last word of line 5. bend v. 1) to change direction to form a curve (使使)拐弯;转弯拐弯;转弯 e.g. The road bends sharply to the left. 2) to move part of your body so that it is not straight or so that you a
