Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing The amount of relief and comfort experienced by the sick after the skin has been carefully was

    4、hed and dried, is one of the commonest observations made at a sick bed. Florence Nightingale(1820-1910) was an English social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. During the Crimean War(克里米亚战争), she worked to improve hospital conditions. The death rate declined greatly becau

Water scarcity(稀缺稀缺) in Africa Water scarcity remains a serious issue in parts of Africa for years, especially in North Africa. In Africa, millio

    10、ns of people cant get access to clean drinking water , and they are living in areas with poor sanitation(卫生卫生) services. Moreover, water availability, access and optimal use in Africa are not promising. Only 5% of Africas cultivated land is irrigated and less than 10% of hydropower potential is util

    11、ised(利用利用) for electricity generation. Frequent drought due to global warming and deforestation have shrunk lakes and changed rainfall patterns. Traditional irrigation technology and agriculture have caused a good sum of water waste. Growing population and urbanisation have increased the domestic an

    12、d industrial water consumption , which cant be fully supported by poor infrastructure(基础设基础设 施施). The reasons for water scarcity in Africa are complicated. Ryan was inspired to take action as a grade one student when he learnt of the consequences for people without access to safe drinking water. He was determined as he succeeded in rallying his community to help him raise the funds

Since its beginning in 2001, the Foundation has improved the lives of more than 996128 vulnerable people through the construction of over 1429 community-led clean water projects and 1255 latrines. 1.
