What do you feel on your fingers when you say the underline sound “ vow”fake” “zebra” “ snake”? When we pronounce voiced sounds our vocal cords vibrate when we say those sounds /v/ /z/ did you feel the vibration? When we pronounce voiceless sounds our vocal cords do not vibrate /f/ /s/ this vibration or lack of vibration then carries forward to the following sound in the word therefore this vibration or lack of vibration explains why we pronounce the past tense of verbs in three voiced or voiceless ways -/t/ /d/ or /id/。 Explain that: /t/ final sound : verbs ending in voiceless sounds/p/ /k/th/ /f/ /s/ /sh/ /ch/ /d/ final sound: verbs ending in the voiced sounds like /b/ /g/ /v/ /z/ /m/ /n/ etc. /id/ final sound: verbs ending with /t/ and /d/ In-Class Exercises( 10-15 minutes)- after the instructional part of the lesso, I then give my students time in class to practice what they just learned. I like to give them exercises to do in pairs, and also as a large group. Ive found that variety helps keep them interested. Activity one: sort the “ robot man” Each students have their own handout and work in four to practice the ed pronunciation. Teacher go around and see if anyone need help. Can students come to the stage and put the ed words in the right place. Activity two: Open the book and read after the video.
