Most of them have certain ability of self-study and they want to get praise from others. Ill give them more chance to solve problems by themselves and more praise for their progress. Afew Ss interests in learning English is not very high.So its important to attract their interests in learning Englishand encourage them to be confident in this subject. .Analysis of teaching methods New English Lesson Standards says that during the Foundation Education period, the total goal for English lesson is to improve the pupils ability of comprehensive using language. It promotes task teaching structure. According to the pupils physical and psychological characteristics. This lesson adopts the “task-research-construct” teaching methods and organizes the class to focus on the importance and solve the difficulties. The pupils will get an open and relaxing circumstance in which they can learn to observe, think and discuss. During this procedure, the pupils ability of thinking and using language will be developed very well. .Teaching aims 1Knowledge aims 1. Help Ss review the key vocabulary and functional sentences about keeping healthy. 2. Ss can rewrite the sentences that contain “should” or “shouldnt” in imperative form. 3. Ss can finish the exercises independently after reading the dialogue in part C. 2Ability aims 1.To develop Ss abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. 2.To train Ss abilities of working in groups. 3.Raise Ss ability of innovation. 3 Emotional aims 1.Help Ss know how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and keep away from diseases. 2.Encourage Ss to take care of the others. .Key points of this lesson 1.To review the knowledge they have learned in the former books. 2.Ss can make use of the knowledge to communicate with their friends. .Difficult points 1.Students can rewrite the sentences that contain “should” or “shouldnt” in imperative form. 2.Students can finish the tasks after reading the dialogue in part C. .Teaching aids Multimedia, flashcards, medical record, patient clothing,doctor costumes. .Analysis of teaching procedures Step1 warm up/ revision 1 word-training I will show the flashcards Lead the students to speak the wordsor phrases in English. 2 words link Ill write “To be healthy, you should/shouldnt ”on the blackboard. Then show the flashcards with word or phrase. Lead the Ss to make choice and fill in the blanks. Forexample:I show “candy”, and ask: “Is it good to eat too much candy?”Ss answer “No”.Then lead Ss to saythe sentence “ To be healthy, we shouldnt eat too much candy.” Step 2 Presentations 1Listening practice Use PPT to show partA Get to know the main characters of the dialogue by asking and answering questions. Then Ill ask Ss to read the sentences in part A and guess what are they talking about?Ask several students to answer. Listen to the dialogue for the first time and find answers to whats wrong with the kids. Listen again and find the answers to what they should or shouldnt do. Finish the tasks (Look and match)after listening. 2Conversationreading and sentencerewriting Use PPT to show Part B. Let Ss look at the four pictures in partB and reviewthree more words: toothache, stomachache and headache. Pay more attentions to the pronunciation and meaning of the “ache”. Next ask Ss to read the dialogue with their partners.At the same time, Ill write the sentence (whats wrong?)on the blackboard. Lead Ss to think how to say this sentence in another way. Then write thesentence (whats the matter?) on the blackboard. 3role-play and pair work to practice speaking I will put on the patient clothing and show the doctor costume.(useprops to arouse their interest in participating in the activities.) Ill say: Now I am the patient,Ifeel bad . Who wants to be my doctor? And I will ask one or two Ss to act like a doctor. Then let Ss do pair-work. They can choose one picture from partB and make dialogue with their partners. Practice the dialogue in pairs. Ask few pairs to do presentations.( Iwill prepare medical records for them. In this way,they will be eager to join.) 4 pre-reading Use ppt to show the form in part C. Work in groups to discuss and try to fill in the blanks to make the sentences reasonably.(Ss interests in reading can be improved by discussing and thinking .) 5 Dialogue listening and reading Listen to the dialogue. Two tasks for Ss: 1 T: what are they talking about?2 circle the verb phrase in the conversation while listening.(The information they circle can help them finish the tasks in partC.) Then go through the dialogue quickly and underline two sentences written on the blackboard: “We should exercise at least one hour a day.” “We shouldnt watch too much TV.” Guide Ss to rewrite the sentences in imperative form.(A review of sentence changes can help Ss complete the indirect answers in part C.) Read the dialogue for the last time and fill in the blanks. Check out the answers and read the tips for keeping healthy together. 6 writing exercise Finish the writing exercise in part D.
