Unit 4 My Family Lesson1 Who is he? He is my uncle. Who is she? She is my aunt. Who is he/she? He/She is my cousin. Who is she? Who is he? Shes my mother. Hes my father. And they love me. Who is she? Goodbye Im going to talk about “My Family-Lesson 1”, which is from SL, Book 6, Unit 4. My teaching report includes four parts. Part Analysis of the teaching material There are eight units in Book 6, including two revisions. This is Lesson 1 in Unit 4. The central item is talking about students families. The main language points in this lesson is to review and learn names of family members and use two new adjective words to describe one person. According to the kids English level and the corresponding content in the daily life, I will give them more chances to express themselves. To train their abilities of expressing themselves in English, I prepare the following designs, 1. Teaching aims. (1) Knowledge aims Ss can listen and speak words of famlily members. Ss can use two new adjective words to describe ones appearance properly. Ss can use “This is He/She is” to introduce and describe ones family simply. Ss can understand the famliy tree. Ss can write new words correctly. (2) Ability aims To develop Ss abilities of listening, speaking and writing. To train Ss abilities of working in groups. To develop their bravery. To foster Ss abilities of communication and their innovation. (3) Emotion aims To foster Ss consciousness of good co-operation and proper competition. To make Ss understand the love among family memebers. 2. Key points of this lesson (1) To make Ss know the relationships among family members. (2) To make Ss understand the meaning of family tree. (3) How to introduce ones family. 3. Difficult points (1) Pronunciation of aunt and uncle. (2) Relationships of uncle, aunt and cousin. (3) The meaning of cousin. 4. Teaching aids Multimedia, flash cards and some photos Part Analysis of the learners I am facing the 9 to 10-year-old kids who have some English knowledge. They like to express themselves and they want to get others praise. So I think the important thing for me to do is to attract their interests and make them feel confident in this subject. So I will encourage them to express themselves confidently. Part Analysis of the teaching methods New English Lesson Standards says that during the Foundation Education period, the total goal for English lesson is to improve the pupils ability of comprehensive using language. It promotes task teaching structure. According to the little kids physical and psychological characteristics of keeping curios, active and imitating and showing themselves. I adopt the “task-research-construct” teaching methods and organize the class to focus on the importance and solve the difficulties. I give the pupils an open and relaxed circumstance in which they can learn to observe, think and discuss. During this procedure, the pupils ability of thinking and using language is developed very well. Part Analysis of the teaching procedures Step 1. Warm up 1. Sing the song together To review family members briefly. 2. Play the PPT and ask Ss to introduce their family. To review family members and how to describe them simply. Step 2. Presentation 1. Lead in and learn the new words and phrases. Show a photo of my family and introduce my family. Then point to my uncle asking “Who is he? He is my fathers brother. Yeah. He is my uncle.” Ask Ss to read “uncle”. Explain the meaning of “uncle” once more. Learn “aunt”and “cousin” in this way. Pay attention to Ss pronuncaition of “uncle” and “aunt 2. Pair work to practice speaking new words. I will set an example with a student. Point to the photo of “uncle” asking “Who is he?” The student answers “He is my uncle”. Practice “aunt” and “cousin” in the same way. Give Ss 1 minute to prepare for themselves then perform to others. Train Ss to ask and answer in proper situation using new words. 3. Group work to introduce ones family. Divide Ss into 5 groups. The leader uses his family photo to train his members to ask and answer “Who is he/she?” “He/She is my .” Develop Ss abilities of oral English. Encourage them to work in groups and develop their abilities of cooperation and communication. 4. Learn “handsome” and “beautiful” Point to the photos of the male and say “This is my He is handsome.” Ss follow to read “handsome”. In the same way to learn “beautiful”. Ask Ss use the two words to describe their family members. Emphasize the pronunciation of “handsome”-letter “d” is not pronounced. 5. Stick, write and say I will stick a family tree on the blackboard first. Then stick Bills family members photos to the tree and introuce them at the same time. Then ask Ss to work in groups. The leader try to introduce the family members and others stick the photos to the tree in the proper position. Give Ss two minutes to prepare for themselves. Make Ss know the relationship and love among family members. Tell them to show and express their love to their relatives. 6. Writing Exercise Finish the writing exercise in Part C Step 3 Conclusion I will help Ss try to conclude what they have learned in this lesson by themselves. Step 4 Homework Encourage Ss to design and make a more beautiful family tree and show it to others the next class. Blackboard design
