Warm-up 1. Greet with the students. 2.Watch a movie about the ocean and sing the song: Trouble is a friend. . Lead in 1. Listen to the tape and let the students get: What does this passage talk about? 2. Students tell what they know about water. They can talk about the colors, the tastes and anything else about water until someone says: I/We drink water . Presentation: 1. Show them two bottles of water and some salt. Put the salt in one bottle of water, shake. Ask the students if they would like to drink and encourage them to tell the reasons. 2. Write fresh water and salt water on the blackboard. Read the two words for several times. Try to spell those two words as in phonics. 3.Two minutes for the students to read the 1st paragraph and find the answers of those questions: 1) What is salt water? 2) What is fresh water? Students stand up and answer the questions. 4. Show the students a picture of the fresh water and the salt water. Students guess the fresh water according to the percentage. 5. Show them the picture to show that: There is not much fresh water we can use on the Earth. 6. Students read the 1st paragraph together. 7. Students take notes in their books: circle the words and underline the phrases. 8. Ask and answer questions: Who need water? When do you use water? Students try to express their ideas about the importance of water and get the conclusion: Water is important. 9. Have two students to stand up and read this paragraph. Then the whole class read it together. 10. Student read paragraph 3 quickly and find the answers to the questions: - What are the two ways people waste water? - How do people make water dirty? Students talk more about those two bad behaviors. 11. Learn the two words: waste and dirty waste: watch the video of wasting water. dirty: do the actions. 12. Read the 3rd paragraph as following to the tape and take notes as usual. 13. Students think more about water. Summarize: Lets save water! Lets keep water clean! . Consolidation Think about: Two minutes for the students to think about how to save water. 1) They are supposed to tell their ideas loudly. 2) Get a conclusion about how to save water. . Summary 1. Look at the blackboard and try to say something about water. 2. Remind the students to protect water. . Homework 1. Finish the listening task as usual. 2.
