To think creatively and express ideas logically and rationally. Discuss the types of books that you think the school library should buy. Tell the reasons and provi

Making recommendations Id recommend / suggest If you ask me, Id pick / choose / go for I believe would be a better choice. B: Fantasy isnt something Id choose, but if you ask me, Id pick the Harry Potter series. They got great reviews and have been made into films too. But students should be

    5、 encouraged to read the books to enjoy the full story. A: Yes. When a story is adapted into a film, things are often changed or left out. What types of books do you like? B: My favourite is non-fiction, like biographies. Theyre not so popular because people think theyre boring. But they can inspire

    6、students to study harder and reach their goals. Id suggest historical biographies such as Marie Curie: A Life. A: I believe contemporary biographies like Steve Jobs would be a better choice. He was a pioneer in computer technology, so students will be eager to find out more about his life. B: Good i

    7、dea. Reading contemporary biographies can develop students interest in biographies and encourage students to read historical ones too. A: Thats right. Lets put our ideas together for the librarian. Write a letter to the school library to recommend books. Use your ideas from part C and the informatio

    8、n in parts A and B to help you. Planning your writing Learning about the structure Begin by clearly stating the purpose of the letter. Explain what types of books you want to recommend and the reasons. End the letter by stating the result you wish to see. Learning about the format When you write a f

    9、ormal letter, you should begin with Dear Sir / Madam or Dear Mr / Miss / Mrs / Ms and end with Yours faithfully or Yours sincerely. The first type is fantasy novels. I think the library needs more fantasy novels because the

Pay attention to the useful expressions. The second type of book I would like to recommend is biographies. Although they are one of the least popu

    12、lar types of books in our library, students should be encouraged to read more of them. Good biographies such as Marie Curie: A Life will inspire students to study harder and reach their goals. In addition to biographies of historical figures, I believe our school library could buy some biographies o

    13、f contemporary figures, like Steve Jobs. I look forward to reading more of the librarys fantasy novels and biographies soon.
