Learning objectives By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: 1. learn how to ask for and give advice; 2. learn how to write a letter of advice; 3. get to know how to better maintain parent-child relationship. II.

    3、ce. IV. Teaching procedures Step 1 Before writing 1. Lead-in: parent-child relationship (1) T greets Ss and asks them to answer the following question: T: Hello, welcome back to Teen Time. This is Cynthia. Lets pick up where we left in the previous programme. How do you find your relationship with y

    4、our parents? You can use some abstract nouns. (2) T puts the given words into two boxes, positive and negative. T: From your answers, obviously, most of you have difficulty getting along with parents. You may experience loneliness, pressure or something bad from time to time. Today, were going to co

    5、ntinue to talk about parent-child relationship.     11、s to read a sample advice letter (Cynthias letter to Rebecca) and analyze its text type, structure and language. Dear Rebecca, I understand your feelings. As you mentioned in the email, you put a lot of effort into your schoolwork. If your mother doesnt value that, of course youre going to be unhapp

    12、y. But remember: every parent has high hopes for their children. Your mother wants you to be successful but she probably fails to see how you struggle. Try these pieces of advice and see if they help improve your relationship. First, talk to your mother. Make sure she understands your feelings. Choo

    13、se a good time and start the conversation politely. You can begin with something like, “I know that you expect me to do well at school, but Im struggling sometimes. Can we please talk?” you should also try to meet in the middle when talking to your mother. Of course, school matters, but relaxation i

    14、s good for you too. Tell your mother about your interests and ask for more free time to spend on them. For example, if you like listening to music, explain why you enjoy it and how it helps you. Why dont you make a deal that you are both satisfied with? Second, put yourself in your mothers shoes and

    15、 try to understand what she does. I know it isnt easy, but you must be patient. When your mother keeps pressing you to study all the time, think about the reason why she does so. When I was your age, I thought senior high school was tiring too. I couldnt understand why my parents were so strict with

    16、 me. However, when I grew up, I realized that they just wanted me to have the best possible future. After that, I became so much closer to my mum and dad.
