So depending on the language, different phrases will improve your creativity and force you to think about how to say things in a different way. St

    10、udying a new language, you will notice that you have to learn a new sense of humour that comes along with the culture of that language. Sometimes, jokes that work in English wont work in French or Japanese. But sometimes things that nobody would laugh in English work in Vietnamese. I learned this wh

    11、en I performed stand-up comedy in Vietnam. A lot of my non-Vietnamese speaking friends would ask me to translate the jokes for them, but when I translated back to English, no one laughed. When you learn a new language you have to learn a lot of vocabulary, new grammar structures, idioms, and much mo

    12、re besides. Doing this, you have to learn memorization tactics(策略). These could be flashcards, using recall methods, or building a memory palace. Whatever tactic you use, it will strengthen your creativity. Next time you meet someone who speaks several languages, before you think that they 第 3 页 共 9

C It can be really hard to learn a new language. I had always enjoyed learning languages in school, but only recently did I start lear

    23、ning German. I found that I could understand and learn individual words easily, but when it came to literature, I really struggled. That was when my tutor at university suggested reading some childrens books printed in the target language. At first, I felt a bit silly reading r a book designed for s

    24、omeone half my age, but then I realised that everyone has to start somewhere. As children, we are given these basic texts to familiarise our brains with certain vocabulary and writing structures, and from there, we can learn and develop. I started with books which are taught to us as children in the

    25、 UK. I managed to find Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. The beauty of reading books that were introduced to you as a child is that you are already familiar with the plot. Therefore you can work out some words with your 第 5 页 共 9 页 knowledge of the story.     26、t first, I used to read with the book in one hand and a dictionary in the other, but this did not work well. The method I would recommend is to read a chapter first and at the end of that chapter, highlight the new words and then look up the definitions. If you can wait a bit before using a dictiona

    27、ry, you may be surprised what you can understand merely from the context. Additionally, a lot of childrens books have pictures which may give you a clue as to what or to whom the passage is referring. If you can find a translation of the books you have read as a child, I would strongly advise readin

    28、g those if you are a complete beginner. However, if you feel a bit more confident reading in English, I would personally recommend the series ofHarry Potterbooks by J. K.
