The writer uses three interrogative sentences (would your? / How would you? / How would you ?)

What do you think is the difference between a lie and a white lie? Lying is the intentional telling of an untruth that is typically committed when a person

    15、realizes that the truth violates another persons expectations. Lies are told for a variety of reasons including a desire to save face, guide social interaction, avoid tension or conflict, preserve interpersonal relationships, or achieve interpersonal power. Because it is often an efficient way to ac

    16、complish these goals, lying is a common element of social interaction. A white lie is a falsehood not meant to injure anyone, and of little moral input. White lies might be a form of facework, which posits that people are motivated to act in ways that allow social interactions to occur smoothly by a

    17、voiding disagreements that could harm either persons image or pride. 4. How would you feel if you were told a white lie? Its necessary to be mindful of other peoples feelings, but thats not the green light to engage in outright lies just to appear kind or save face. Yes, many times white lies provid

    18、e just the right dose of loving intent, but there are instances where they can weaken relationships or provide a false sense of hope or confidence. It depends. Sometimes, its kind; sometimes, maybe its cruel. Give pause to the truths and the little white lies you tell, carefully considering when it

    19、is you use them and why and if its truly the best response given the particular situation and nature of your relationship. Work in groups. Give a talk on the importance of honesty following the steps below. Explain what honesty is. Give reasons for the importance of being honest. Support your reason

    20、s with examples. End with your conclusion. What is honesty? Many children think honesty means you dont tell a lie- and that is definitely part of being honest. But honesty means more than not lying. A more complete definition of honesty shows that an honest person doesnt do things that are morally w

    21、rong. If something you do is breaking the law or if you have to hide what you are doing because youll get in trouble, you are probably not being honest. So honesty is about speaking and acting truthfully. When you do something you know is morally wrong, or when you have to hide your actions because

    22、you know they are wrong, you are not being honest. Being honest means you act in a way that you know is the right thing to do. A big part of honesty is what you say and how you act toward others. But another part of the definition of honesty is whether you treat yourself the same way. Being honest w

    23、ith yourself means you really know why you are acting in a certain way or whether what you tell yourself is true. So honesty is not only about speaking and acting truthfully but also whether you treat yourself the same way. Learning to be honest and eliminating the need for lies can help to clean up

    24、 your conscience and your relationships. Shifting your perspective slightly and orienting yourself to a policy of honesty can help you to eliminate the need for lies and make it more attractive to tell the truth. 1. Written more than two hundred years ago, these lines by Walter Scott remain one of t

    25、he most well-known excerpts of Scottish poetry. Although Walter Scott wrote these lines more than two hundred years ago. They are still known by a lot of people as famous excerpts of Scottish poetry. Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish novelist, poet, historian, and biographer (传记传记 作者作者) wh
