Text 10 W: Born in 1809, Charles Darwins life was once considered a major failure by even his own father. In fact, it was because of his enthusiasm in natur

23、e that Darwin gave up his medical studies at the University of Edinburgh. In 1827, he dropped out and quit school, leading his father to say that he cared for nothing but shooting, dogs and rats catching. In a second attempt at school, Darwin went to Christs College at the University o Cambridge. In

24、 1831, he realized that this wasnt for him either, as he found it impossible for him to focus on his studies. Once again, he quit and dropped out of college. Darwin knew that others, including his father, were displeased with him. He was thought of as a failure in life. Of course, things didn,t remain that way for Darwin. Today, he is considered as one of the greatest scientific minds of our time. His theories on natural selection and evolution have had a major influence on our understanding of life here on earth.
