Status and function This period is from Culture 2 Outdoor Activities. This topic is about outdoor activities and countries. It is interesting and related to daily life. So it is a good chance to arouse students interest in English learning . So this period is very important in this book. 2. Teaching aims and demands (1) Aims of the knowledge: To learn a new word “hiking” and to read the names of some countries. To learn some useful expression Im . Im from . I like . (2)Aims of the abilities: To improve the ability of introducing ones hobby. To improve the ability of introducing oneself. (3)Aims of the emotion: To enable the students to have a deeper understanding of outdoor activities. 3. Teaching important points (1) To introduce ones hobby. (2) To introduce oneself . 4. Teaching difficult points (1) To read the name of countries. (2) To master the usage of “from” and introduce oneself. Teaching methods In this period, I will use Five-finger Teaching Method , I design some tasks to help the students learn. I will use pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. . Analysis of students and Learning methods 1. Analysis of students The students are familiar with the topic about hobbies. They will be active and cooperative in class. They are full of eager to share their hobbies. 2. Learning methods I request the students to study English independently and cooperatively . The students who sit at the same table and groups can make a discussion and learn each other. . Teaching aids some pictures,some word cards, a computer, a disc and the blackboard . To master the usage of “from” and introduce oneself. . Teaching aids Computer multimedia projector. . Teaching procedures StepReview 1. Listen to a song ”I have many hobbies.” 2. Sing the song together. 3. Play a game. Ask one student to the blackboard and let him/her see one hobby on a card, then he/she act out the hobby with actions without words, the other students guess it out with “I like.” 4. Teach the new hobby: hiking (1) Show some pictures about hiking. (2) Lead the students understand its meaning : traveling by walking (3) Let the students read the sentence “I like hiking.” StepPresentation 1. Show a picture about Minmin and let them listen to the content. 2. Retell the information about Minmin. Let them know China is a name of a Country. Do you know other countries name? 3. Show some pictures and people about the countries: the USA; the UK; Brazil; Australia and Singapore. 4. While showing the picture, the teacher should teach the students how to read it and say “Im from.”. 5. Use the same way to teach other countries. Step Consolidation 1. Show six pictures on the blackboard to lead in the content, do you want to know more about them? 2. Listen the content and retell it picture by picture. 3. Let the students read the content with partners. 4. Ask some students fill in the blank. 5. Finish part 2 with partner. 6. Check the answers with students. Step Practice 1. Show my own picture to introduce myself. 2. Let the students enjoy some videos. 3. Let students use “Im ; Im from ; I like ” to introduce themselves. 4. Ask some students to introduce themselves. 5. Let the students know when we are introducing myself, we muse be relaxed, smiling and fluency. Step Project (Homework ) 1. Take out a paper to draw yourselves and write “Im ; Im from ; I like ” to introduce yourselves. 2. Share the pictures with classmates after class. .
