Teaching backgroundsThe topic of this unit is “Do you like pears?”, which is the unit 4 of Book 2 of Grade 3, published by Peoples Education Press. The theme of this topic is about talking about the fruits which you prefer. The main t

    2、eaching points are the dialogue dealing with the related topic. It is a quite practical topic since it can help ss get much closer with their real life. Our students are Grade 3, they are naturally lively, curious, like to express themselves, but some students are easily distracted in class. Therefo

    3、re, how to attract their attention, let them to actively participate in class is the key to this lesson. Since the topic we learned closer to our life, the students are familiar with the background, mainly to learn words and sentences, through practise and games to master.Given the analysis of teach

    4、ing material and students, the teaching objectives are as follow.a) Knowledge objectivesIts easy to know that, to enable the students to master the new words: pear, peach, orange and apple, maybe like as well. Then, to enable the students to understand and speak: Do you like sth? Yes, I do./ No, I d

    5、ont. What about sth? I like them very much.Make sure that students can use these sentences in real life.b) Ability objectivesSs can ask what the others like which can give them more opportunities to communicate with others. For example, if ss meet some strangers, they can know what they like, and th

    6、at helps them approach others. Moreover, ss in grade 3 are in the stage of beginners, they can improve their speaking ability by the end of this class.c) Moral objectives Students in grade 3 is in the early stage of psychological development. Moreover, most of ss are the only one child in their fami

    7、lies, which means they are lack of emotional communication to a certain degree. Teachers can use this dialogue to help ss have more chances to communicate with others. That is to say, ss may make more friends after studying this lesson. On account of the above analysis, the important points are to h

    8、elp ss ask and answer the questions, to enable them to study in groups and cooperate skillfully and to develop their interests in English.The following is difficult points, to help the children truly master the sentences and make sure they can use them in real situations.2. Assessments of performanc

    9、eIn the class, I will make assessment of sss performance in time. The teachers evaluation should be primarily formative appraisal and summative assessment needs more exercises to practice the new knowledge. The teacher will give them as many opportunities as possible to encourage ss to get involved

    10、in the class. For example, in the section of consolidation, ss will do a survey about how many people like peaches/pears/apples. They have to report their results in front of the class. The purpose of this task is to develop ss ability of communication and also ability of cooperation. For this reaso

    11、n, as long as they can finish this task, I will give them some rewards as encouragement. 3. Teaching planSince the teaching objectives of primary school English teaching emphasize the vocabulary, phrases and sentences, all the class activities will be around language study. Teacher will use pictures

    12、 of fruits to teach language points. Thinking of the teaching content, the teaching methods will be task-based teaching approach, communicative approach and TPR method. Because modern foreign language teaching emphasizes that ss should be encouraged to develop effective learning strategies and auton

    13、omous learning abilities by means of experiencing, practicing, participating, exploring and cooperating under the teachers guidance. In the class, teacher will direct ss to use the new words and sentence patterns to describe the appearances of teachers.English class of elementary school need more te

    14、aching aids to increase ss interests. In todays class, I will adopt pictures, radio tapes, blackboard to assist language teaching. Now I will present my teaching plan step by step. The whole teaching procedure includes 5 steps: Step I: Lead-in, Step II: Presentation&Practice, Step III: Consolidation

    15、, Step IV: Summary, Step V:Homework.Step 1. Lead-in(warm-up/revision) a. Free talk between T and Ss about food and fruits.b. Do some things, for example: Show me the hamburger. Drink some tea.c. Review the numbers by asking: “How many crayons do you have?” or sing a song “one two three four five”.Pu

    16、rpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding by singing and doing some total physical response, and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.Step 2. Presentation&PracticeFirst, let the children think freely, what fruit do you like

    17、best? Draw it on the paper as soon as you can. Then, invite two children to show their works, use the patternI liketo express.Then, list the fruits on the PPT, teach them to read all the words one by one, pay attention on the pronunciation, make sure everyone can read them fluently. During this peri

    18、od, I use many small games to help them, it will be funny and exciting.Next, I express the fruit I like, in order to guide the students to state their likes. After it , I should ask, if you want to buy some fruit for your friend for his birthday, but you dont know which fruit he likes, so how would

    19、you do? Ill teach them the following, From I like sth, to you like sth, and to Do you like sth? Answer -Yes, I do./ No, I dont. Let them work in pairs to practice.And then, I can use the key structure Do you like sth?/What about sth? I like them very much. Explain the sentences in detail, call the c

    20、hildren to use them to ask and answer.Well, remember to encourage the students who have done a good job.In the following, I will say Are you tired? Lets watch a cartoon,OK? Let us have a look what kinds of fruits Amy likes? Play the cartoon. After finishing it, let them answer the questions in Engli

Show the dialogue, let them read it in different forms.Then give a few minutes to prepare the conversation, then act out.Dont forget to help the children correct their pronunciation if necessary.Step 4. Three, four or five.” Here is the purpose, task-based teaching is used here to develop students ability of communication and also their a

Teaching reflectionAs the statements of new curriculum standard, ss of elementary school should be able to make simple daily communication, and can give short description according to pictures or something else.
