Its main theme is how to introduce people, which is a quite useful topic. Since ss have already learned some words about describing peo

    2、ple, this class contains more vocabulary relating to description. English classes in grade 5 get much closer with ss real life, therefore, the topic of this grade became more practical. Ss will be really benefited from those practical topic, because after learning such kind of topics, they could use

    3、 vocabulary, phrases and sentences learned before to express themselves, which fully embodies the instrumental feature of English. The new curriculum standard requirements of elementary school English study mainly focus on the practicality and applicability. Ss should be able to exchange personal in

    4、formation in English, and can make short statement of daily topics. By considering of this, ss in grade 5 will move into another higher language level. The topic are more practical compared with the previous ones, for example, introduction of people-topic of this lesson. Ss can use sentences, like H

    5、es tall and strong. Hes very funny, to introduce others. Given the analysis of teaching material and students, the teaching objectives are as follow.a) Knowledge objectivesIn consideration of the statement of new curriculum standard, the main object of English study is to develop perception of Engli

    6、sh and form good study habits. The knowledge aim will put more efforts on the study of knowledge. Ss hae to totally grasp the five adjectives: old, short, thin, tall and strong, know the new words young, kind, funny; mater the sentence patterns: Whos your.? Whats he/she like? and apply them flexibly

    7、 into different situations. b) Ability objectivesSs are able to simply describe their teachers appearance or characters, e.g. We have a new English teacher. Hes tall and strong. Hes very funny; understand simple dialogues talking about persons lookings. That is to say, the development of language st

    8、udy for beginner level lays stress on speaking and listening mostly.c) Moral objectives Students in grade 5 is in the early stage of psychological development. Moreover, most of ss are the only one child in their families, which means they are lack of emotional communication to a certain degree. “My

    9、 new teacher” will help to cultivate ss awareness of loving their teachers and develop positive system of values and attitudes.On account of the above analysis, the important points are new words in Lets learn part:old, short, thin, tall, strong, young, funny, kind, among which old, short, thin, tal

    10、l and strong are esp. important. As to the difficult points, Lets start is the difficult point since this part appears in ss book for the first time.2. Assessments of performanceIn the class, I will make assessment of sss performance in time. The teachers evaluation should be primarily formative app

    11、raisal and summative assessment will be complementary, no matter what section ss are in. For example, in the presentation part, I will presents the hanging pictures of lets start part, introducing: rabbit has many new teachers in her school.Do you have new teachers? Lead ss to describe the new teach

    12、ers according to the given situational. I will encourage them to describe as much as they can. Whatever their answers are, they can be inspired. If I am satisfied with their performances, I will give them a learning task for the ss:Sarah will introduce some new teachers to them, they should try to f

    13、igure out who is the new teacher in the following learning process. If ss feel a bit difficult in this questions, I will give them a vocabulary pool and some background knowledge for assist. 3. Teaching planSince the teaching objectives of primary school English teaching emphasize the vocabulary, ph

    14、rases and sentences, all the class activities will be around language study. Teacher will use pictures of people or statements of people to teach language points. There will several kinds of exercises, for instance, a chant competition, a train game. Thinking of the teaching content, the teaching me

    15、thods will be task-based teaching approach, communicative approach and TPR method. Because modern foreign language teaching emphasizes that ss should be encouraged to develop effective learning strategies and autonomous learning abilities by means of experiencing, practicing, participating, explorin

    16、g and cooperating under the teachers guidance. In the class, teacher will direct ss to use the new words and sentence patterns to describe the appearances of teachers.English class of elementary school need more teaching aids to increase ss interests. In todays class, I will adopt pictures, radio ta

    17、pes, blackboard to assist language teaching. Now I will present my teaching plan step by step. The whole teaching procedure includes 5 steps: Step I: Lead-in, Step II: Presentation, Step III: Practice, Step IV: Consolidation, Step V: Summary,Step :Homework.Step 1. Lead-in(warm-up/revision) In this s

    18、tep, ss firstly listen to the ballad in lets start part and guess the topic of this unit, therefore their interest in the first English lesson of this term will be aroused; after that, teacher presents two sentences the ss have learned in unit 3. book 3 PEP: I have a new friend. He s tall. Hes stron

    19、g, too. With the help of pictures of different persons, teacher guide the ss to review the words strong, tall, short and thin etc. Step 2. PresentationTeacher firstly presents the hanging pictures of lets start part, introducing: rabbit has many new teachers in her school.Do you have new teachers? L

    20、ead ss to describe the new teachers according to the given situational hints, then teacher arranges a learning task for the ss:Sarah will introduce some new teachers to them, they should try to figure out who is the new teacher in the following learning process. Sarah s teachers, describe these teac

Ss are led to answer with the old words, strong, tall, short, thin, that review in step 1, then teacher presents the new words young, kind, old, funny with the help of stick pictures, cards and photos of teachers. Next, listening: ss read the new words after the tape, try to grasp their pronun

    22、ciation and meaning.Teacher gives prompt: Mr Hu is the art teacher. Whats he like? Hes short and thin, according to which ss judge which teacher in the hanging picture is described here, finishing the task remained formerly and let them figure out who is Sarahs new teacher. Teacher direct ss to use

    23、the new words and sentence patterns to describe the appearances of teachers in Lets find out part, then find out the right pictures, after this activity, ss do pair-work, applying the 8 new words into dialogues like My new Chinese teacher is .Who is he? Repeatedly.Lastly, ss sing the song my new tea

    24、cher after the tape together, let them enjoy the new words in relaxed musical rhythms. Step 3. Practice In this step, I design two activities to help ss grasp what they have learned better:Activity one: a chant competition Ss will firstly have 5 minutes to try to remember the 8 new words, then teach

    25、er will invites 3 of them to go to the platform and finish the following simple chant with vivid intonation, gestures and expressions: show me old, show me short, show me thin,show me tall,show me strong, show me young, show me funny,show me kind,show me thin. Student who can remember the most phras

    26、es will be the winner and get a big hand. Activity two: a train game. Ss will play the game in teams: the first student in each team is the leader, who begins the game by asking the next member: what s he/she like? The next one is supposed to respond: He/She is., using any adjective he learned today

    27、. During the game, teacher will walk around the class and observe, the team which finishes the conveyance most quickly and correctly will be the winner. Step 4. ConsolidationAssign a task for the ss: design some riddles by referring to the Lets find out part. e.g. Shes beautifulShes very youngWe all

    28、 like herWhos she? The other ss guess who is the person. Step 5. Summary Ss summarize the knowledge they have learned today; teacher make necessary supplements. Step 6. Homework Ss are encouraged to act out the chant in step 3 in front of their parents after class. 4. Teaching reflectionAs the state

    29、ments of new curriculum standard, ss of elementary school should be able to make simple daily communication, and can give short description according to pictures or something else. The teaching plan of todays class fully embodies the above requirements. Simple exercise-chant competition, train games can make ss be more active and highly cooperation.
