5、rainstorm more words and expressions about it. Collect answers from the class, and have some students share their answers with the class. Note these words and expressions down on the blackboard. (purpose: to lead in to the topic and activate students background knowledge about making reservations.)
6、Step 2 Describe a situation to students. Invite 2-3 students to share their answers. (purpose: to develop students ability to predict and get
7、 the needed information.) Step 3 Listening for gist Play the recording and ask students to finish Activity 1 on page 29 and check their predictions. Invite 2-3 students to present their answers through the projector, check the answers and solve their problems at the same time. (purpose: to develop s
8、tudents ability to listen for gist.) Step 4 Listening for details Play the recording again and ask students to complete the table in Activity 2 on page 29. Collect the answers from the class. (to familiarize students with the details of listening material and draw their attention to the target expre
9、ssions.) Step 5 Enhancing language Listen again and lead students to make a summary of the expressions used in making reservations and list them on the blackboard. (pay attention to the expression “be doing”, which can also be used to express future actions.) (purpose: to get students to memorize ex
10、pressions used in making reservations and get ready for the speaking activity.) Step 6 Speaking Ask student to read the information in Activity 3 on page 29 and ask students to work in pairs to role-play a reservation. (The teacher may offer words and expressions if necessary.) Invite some pairs to
11、present their conversations and let others evaluate their presentation. (purpose: to create a context where students can put what they have learned to practical use.) Step 7 Homework Work with your partner to practice making reservations in different situations. (purpose: to check students learning
